I agree with that — but! The support for larger character sets was such a game-changer for layout features as well. I’m thinking about the elaborate designs like Caflisch Script, Poetica and Bickham …6 -

It was the reason I was hired at Adobe in 1997! They needed someone to help build OpenType fonts. It was obviously nascent then, but it was fun and interesting to watch the technology come together. …1 -
